Troubleshooting printer connection

Follow this guide only if using a standalone Zebra Printer connected to a personal device (not provided by Jolt) with the Jolt app installed for WiFi printing. This guide is not applicable to a JPS Station.

1. How to Run a Network Test

If you’re having trouble connecting to your printer via Wi-Fi, running a network test can help identify the issue. Here’s how to do it:

Prerequisites: You will need two devices for this test, both installed with the Jolt mobile app.

Steps:

  1. Open the Jolt Mobile App:

    • In the left hand menu of the app, tap Tools.

    • Select Printer Network Test

  2. Start the Network Test:

    • Tap START DIAGNOSTICS

  3. Choose Your Test Mode:

    • You will see options for Host and Client.

    • On Device 1, select Host.

    • On Device 2, select Client.

    • Tap Next on both devices.

  4. Complete the Test:

    • Device 1 will display a QR code.

    • Device 2 will need to scan this QR code or enter the IP address shown.

    • Tap Next to start the test.

  5. Review the Results:

    • The test will show you results for TCP Communication and UDP Communication.

    • If you see an “X” indicating a problem, it may be a network issue. Contact your company IT department for further assistance.

2. How to Reset Network Settings

Resetting your printer’s network settings should be your last step if other troubleshooting methods haven’t worked.

Steps:

  1. Access Printer Settings:

    • Go to the Labels section.

    • Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) and select Printers.

    • Choose the Connection Tab.

  2. Initiate Network Reset:

    • Tap Reset Network Settings.

  3. Confirm Reset:

    • A warning message will appear, asking if you want to proceed.

    • Tap Continue to confirm.

  4. Reboot the Printer:

    • The printer will reboot, indicated by changes in the printer lights.

  5. Reconnect Your Printer:

    • After the reboot, reconnect your printer

    • Tap Labels.

    • Tap the three-dot menu (⋮) and select Printers.

    • Tap the + button in the lower left corner

    • Select found printer
