How to manage roles for lists in the Jolt web app

Role-based access allows you to control who can view, complete, and manage lists in Jolt. Learn how to set up these permissions by following the steps below.

  1. Log in to the Jolt web app and navigate to lists > edit lists.

  2. On the next screen, select a list you want to manage.

  3. Click on settings at the top of the screen and scroll down to the role-based access section.

  4. When anyone can view and complete this list is selected, everyone can see and complete the list if it appears in their account. You can hover over any of the green question marks for additional information.

  5. When the assigned checkbox is selected, the user will have access to complete tasks in the list.

  6. When the manage checkbox is selected, the user will have access to complete tasks in the list and will have the ability to assign tasks to others.

  7. For specific roles, deselect the checkbox to limit access (you’ll need to select specific roles to view and complete the list).

  8. Under create settings, you can determine who should not be able to create instances of this list. Set specific profiles that should not have the option to create new instances of this list. Users assigned to a list can manually create a list instance in the Jolt mobile app.

  9. Under shared or individual, enable this is you want everyone in their selected roles to receive their own copy of the list. If you cannot assign roles to a list, check if the anyone can view and complete this list option is enabled. Disabling this option will allow you to assign specific roles to the list.

If users experience issues with creating or accessing lists, consider the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Ensure the user has the correct role permissions for the location.

  • Verify that anyone can view and complete this list configured.

  • Perform a mobile app reset to resolve synchronization or checklist access problems.
