Locate the box in your installation kit that is labeled rX ambient.
Inside the box, you will find the wireless z sensor and magnetic screen.
You must have a gateway that is installed and powered on for the sensor to work properly
Locate the NIST sensor in the installation kit (temperature and humidity sensors come separately but can be used concurrently in ports 1 and 2). Ideally, you should use only one port. Line up the arrow on port 1 with the arrow on the NIST sensor and carefully screw in the sensor so as not to damage the pins.
Press the power button on the wireless sensor and the z screen.
All three LED lights will flash quickly and then turn off
Within a few seconds, the green status light will flash rapidly for about 30 seconds
When the rapid flashing stops, this indicates that the wireless sensor is connected to the Gateway and has sent a reading
You should see the temperature on the magnetic screen update
To install the ambient sensor, locate a well-ventilated area at the top of the first drug bay at your pharmacy.
The wireless sensor is magnetic and will adhere to metal shelving
If necessary, use velcro or double-sided tape to adhere the sensor to the drug bay
DO NOT place the sensor near a heating vent or near the drive-through window to avoid direct impact on the temperature readings
For a more secure connection, ensure the magnets of the screen fit into the cradles on the front of the sensor.
Alternatively, place the magnetic screen in an area of the pharmacy with the other screens for fridges and freezers.
Ensure the screen is within 50 feet of the sensor for consistent communication
You can discard the QR code and barcode stickers that were packed in the sensor's box
Wireless sensors will generate readings every 15 minutes
If a temperature threshold has been violated, the screen will read alarm, and you will hear an audible sound if audible alarms are enabled for your device.
You can snooze the alarm by tapping the power button on the magnetic screen
It may take an interval or two for the screen to return to normal functionality once the device is back in range
The batteries in a wireless sensor can last up to 5 years (if a gateway loses power, the device will search for a connection constantly, and battery performance may be reduced)
You can push your reading to the SmartSense Dashboard by tapping the power button on the wireless sensor.
If you have any concerns, we will work directly with you to troubleshoot the device.
