Connecting your gateway

What you will need:

To set up your gateway, ensure it is placed in an optimal location to maximize sensor coverage. Additionally, connect the gateway to your LAN using a wired connection for stable and efficient operation.

Before you begin: Ensure that your network settings allow the gateway to communicate with Jolt servers. Consult your IT team if necessary.

Make sure that you are logged in to the Jolt app and that your user profile has at least one of the following permissions:

  • Device Admin

  • Location Website Admin

  • Company Admin

  • Content Group Admin

Instructions

  1. Add new gateway Begin by selecting Sensors from the side menu. Touch the GET STARTED button, select the users you want to assign as Sensors Admins, and tap save. Then, from the Sensors overview screen, touch the SETUP A GATEWAY button or tap the add(“+”) icon in the upper right and select Setup Gateway.

  2. Name your gateway Select LoRaWAN as the gateway connection type and then give the gateway a name (we suggest using the store name and/or number). Then tap the barcode icon in the ID field to bring up the camera.

  3. Scan QR Code Flip the gateway over and scan the QR code that s located in the lower left corner of the label to automatically record the gateway's DevEUI address.

  4. Save gateway connection Once saved, wait 5-10 minutes to ensure the gateway has connected to Jolt. If the gateway has not connected after 10 minutes, refer to the troubleshooting steps in part 5. You will not be able to add sensors until the gateway is actively communicating with Jolt.

  5. Troubleshooting Steps - If sensors are not connecting to the gateway, check the placement of both the gateway and sensors to ensure they are within range. - Confirm that the gateway is properly connected to the LAN and that the router is functioning correctly.
