How to create Jolt labels and categories

Creating labels and categories in Jolt helps you organize and manage your labeling system. Follow these steps to set up categories and labels for your devices.

Prerequisites

To use the labeling features in Jolt, ensure you have:

  • A Jolt labeling subscription

  • The correct admin permissions (e.g., location website admin, content group admin, or company admin).

  • Templates and categories must be created before you create labels.


Instructions

  1. Log in to the Jolt web app and navigate to labeling > labels.

  2. Select the categories tab and click + new category.

  3. Enter a category name and choose a color (the color helps with visual organization in the Jolt app, but is not used for printing labels).

  4. Click save to apply changes.

  5. To create a new label, go to the labels tab and click + new label

  6. Enter a label name and select a category from the dropdown menu.

  7. Choose a template (this defines the layout and fields for the label).

  8. Fill in the available fields based on the selected template (fields vary depending on the template).

  9. Add an optional note (this can be for internal informational purposes and will not appear on the label).

  10. Review the label preview to confirm the information is correct.

  11. Click save to apply changes.
