Jolt Bluetooth sensor troubleshooting

Follow the steps below to troubleshoot your Bluetooth temperature sensors when they are not sending temperature updates to your hub.

How do I know if the issue is with the sensor or the hub/network?

First, check if your hub is sending updates correctly. If the hub is functioning but your sensor isn't sending updates, follow the troubleshooting steps below. You may need to go through the sensor troubleshooting guide or contact support if the below steps don't resolve the issue.

What should I do if my sensor is not sending temperature updates to the hub?

  1. Check for signal strength and interference.

    • Place sensor right next to the hub. This helps rule out issues related to signal strength or interference.

    • Wait 10 minutes and check if the sensor starts sending readings to the web portal. Refresh the web page to see updated information.

    • If readings appear, the problem may be related to the distance or interference between the sensor and hub.

  2. Inspect and reinsert the sensor battery.

    • Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws holding the backplate of the sensor.

    • Carefully use a mini craft stick or similar tool to push the battery out of its housing. This will power off the sensor.

    • Place the battery back into its housing, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) sides are correctly aligned.

    • Check if the sensor starts sending readings to the web portal. If not, proceed to replace the battery.

  3. Restart the hub.

    • Unplug the hub from its power source for 10 seconds.

    • Plug it back in and allow it to restart.

    • Check if the sensor starts sending updates to the web portal. This restart can resolve sync-related issues.

  4. Consider upgrading hardware.

    • If the issue persists, explore upgrade options. Having a more powerful hardware can improve performance.

    • Jolt LoRa (Long Range) equipment lineup offers options that may better suit your environment.

The above steps didn't resolve my issue

If you've tried all troubleshooting steps and the sensor still isn't functioning, there may be a hardware issue. Contact Jolt Technical Support for assistance with diagnosing and replacing the faulty sensor.
