What is SmartSense Voyage?
SmartSense Voyage is a solution that combines location services and temperature monitoring within the SmartSense platform, allowing you to track the approximate location of your devices and protect your assets. Track your assets along their journeys and pinpoint the geographic location if your asset has a temperature excursion.
This solution is powered by the SmartSense T1 Sensor.
Within the Voyage tab, you will find an interactive map and an assets table, which lists all assets and assigned sensors within the selected hierarchy group in your account. The data will report temperature, positions of T1 Sensors, and details about the associated asset.

Voyage Map
The Voyage Map is an interactive tool displaying addresses and information about Assets and Zones as well as dynamic features including click & drag, zoom in/out, and full screen mode.
GENERAL
You can view maps in different areas of the SmartSense platform, and each map displays information based on the specified page.
- Sensors plotted on each map are based on the selected hierarchy group (Organization/Location/Department)
- The map on the Voyage Overview tab displays the last position/street address for each T1 Sensor based on the selected hierarchy group (Organization/Location/Department)
- The map on the Asset Details page displays the last known position and position history of all assigned T1 Sensors
- The map on the Device ID page displays the last known position and position history of the selected T1 Sensor
- Some maps will display on the Voyage Reports tab (you can learn more under Voyage Reports)
- The map on the Create Zone page allows you to visualize the precise location when creating a new Zone
You can also use the search bar to located a device ID or asset name.
MAP KEY
Map Key Icons are contextually displayed based on the page being viewed. Voyage Map Key is specific to each page, detailing the icons available on the map. The Map Key allows you to hide/display icons by deselecting/selecting the icon in the Key.
ICONS
- Last Position: a single icon representing the last reported location for each T1 Sensor
- Previous Positions: icons representing past coordinates for T1 Sensors
- Zones: icons representing the placement of an address and radius size on a map
- Radius Circle: sensor is located within the circumference
- Icon Pop-Ups: an automated window with details that appears when you click on an icon
- Clusters: grouped position icons that zoom in when you click on them
SIGNALS
The T1 Sensor reports data using wireless communication via cellular networks or satellite/GPS positioning.
- GPS Signal
- Higher accuracy when pinpointing the position of a sensor with a reduced radius, including the directional value (North/South/East/West)
- "Position icons" with an arrow represent GPS location
- Cellular Signal
- Cellular uses the nearest cull tower to generate coordinates resulting in a large radius
- Position icons without an arrow report reading via cellular network
Voyage Assets
LIST OF ASSETS TABLE
This table is located directly below the Voyage Map and presents a grid layout of assets with T1 sensors assigned based on the selected hierarchy group.
- T1 Sensors must be assigned to Assets if you want them to display in Voyage
- Each column provides details about each Asset
- Some columns are interactive; you can arrange Asset attributes in ascending or descending order
- Clicking on an Asset will take you to the asset details page.
- You can expand the row to view detailed Sensor information
- Make sure you assign T1 sensors to your Voyage account.
ASSET TAB
- You can access Voyage assets from the Voyage tab and the Assets tab
- T1 Sensors can only be added to a device
Voyage Zones
The Zones tab hosts information about zones associated with your account.
- Zone: A combination of three core elements (Zone Name, Verified Address, and Radius) that determine a geographic boundary
- Zone List: A grid displaying all existing Zones associated with your account
CREATE A ZONE
- To create a new zone, click the create zone button, then fill out the required fields (marked by an asterisk) on the page. The address entered will appear as a circle on the map, and the size of the circle will adjust if you increase or decrease the radius.
- Up to 50 characters can be used to name a Zone
- A Verified Address must be selected to create a Zone
- Radius can only be updated/adjusted during the creation of a Zone and must be a numeric value
- Entering a radius value below the minimum or above the maximum value will trigger an alert, and you will need to adjust the value before saving
- Enter and Exit events automatically trigger for each Zone and cannot be modified or disabled.
- Generated Events will be available in Voyage Events Reports.
- Once all fields are completed and validated, click save zone to generate. You will be redirected to the Zones tab where the new Zone will appear in the grid.
- If you save a Zone, the Zone creates a new Zone.
- After saving a Zone, only the name can be modified.
Note: If you decide not to create a Zone, click cancel. A modal window will appear giving you two options:
1) Cancel - Dismisses the modal window and retains any data entered
2) Discard - Clears all input and returns you to the Zones tab without saving
