How do I Set Up a pH Measurement for a Food Item in the Web App?
Within the SmartSense web app, two options are available for setting up a pH scale measurement: temperature-based and time-based. Below are the steps for each of those options. Please note that this feature is not available for COOLDOWNS and REHEATS.

Temperature-Based Configuration
- Navigate to the DIGITAL LOGBOOK tab and select FLOW OF FOOD from the dropdown.
- Click on the STEPS tab then select +STEP in the right corner to create a new step.
- Fields marked with an asterisk are required. Add a STEP NAME.
- Under STEP TYPE, select COOKING.
- Under MEASUREMENT, select PH SCALE.
- Next, set the expected range by filling out the LOW and HIGH values. These are numeric values ranging from 0.00 to 14.00.
- Select the CORRECTIVE ACTIONS in the following fields then click the SAVE button in the bottom right corner to apply changes.
Time-Based Configuration
- Navigate to DIGITAL LOGBOOK and select FLOW OF FOOD from the dropdown.
- Click on the STEPS tab then select +STEP in the right corner to create a new step.
- Fields marked with an asterisk are required. Add a STEP NAME.
- Under STEP TYPE, select TIME BASED HOLDING.
- Under MEASUREMENT, select PH SCALE.
- Complete the rest of the required fields then click SAVE to apply changes.
Note: pH Scale results will appear on the HACCP report similarly to Temperature Task results but with the pH Unit appearing after the numerical value (see example below).
