TempAlert: Understanding Insights Views

  1. Log into the Insights dashboard (to view a video version of this guide, click here)
  2. The Device List view is the default view when you first log into Insights
  3. This view enables you to easily inspect the status of each of your devices
  4. The three statuses include Normal, Warning, and Alarm
    • The green Normal status reflects that there are no active alerts for your device
    • The yellow Warning status indicates that a device has breached a threshold, but due to an alarm delay, is not yet sending out an alert
    • The red Alarm status shows that a device has taken a reading outside of its alert threshold (this alert should be addressed immediately)
  5. In addition to displaying status, the device list displays the device number, name, monitoring interval, most recent activity, and power level
  6. This view also offers you a glimpse into sensor information such as the port number, sensor name, the last recorded reading, the time and date of the last data point, and the 24 hour minimum, maximum, and average readings
  7. From this dashboard, you can edit the device and sensor information by clicking the View link
    • You can also add, edit, and delete alerts using the Alerts link
  8. Next, the Device Map window shows your devices on a map
  9. To have a device appear on the map, the address or geographical coordinates must be added to the device information screen
  10. To add an address, go to the Device List and View next to the device you want to edit
  11. In the address field, type the street address (or coordinates) of the device's location to have its pinpoint display on the map
  12. Once the device's location appears on the map, the same green, yellow, and red status colors apply to the pinpoint as they did on the device list
  13. To visit a a device's information page, where you can view and edit device information, simply click the pinpoint
  14. You can zoom in and out within this window, as well as switch between map view and satellite view
  15. This dashboard is helpful if you have a number of locations and want the ability to see the status of your locations within a single window
  16. The Device Dials view shows your devices in a tiled landscape, and features dials giving you a visual representation of whether or not you are inside or outside of the threshold
  17. This dashboard includes the status of both devices and their associated sensors
  18. Once again, the same green, yellow, and red status colors apply to this view
  19. The ranges for the dials are set per sensor in the sensor information section
  20. To enter dial thresholds, go to the Device List and click View next to the device you want to edit
  21. Scroll down to Sensor Information and click Edit
  22. Type the values you would like to see displayed on the gauge for that sensor
  23. Clicking on any of the gauges will load the information page for that device or sensor
  24. If you do not want the Device List as your default view, you can change this under the My Account tab in the preferences section
  25. To change your default view, click Edit and select your preferred view from the dropdown menu
