SmartSense B Repeater Instructions for Use

The SmartSense B Repeater is designed to extend the range of an existing SmartSense B Sensor and can also act as an independent temperature sensor

Device Details

  • Can be paired to extend the range of an existing SmartSense B Sensor
  • Can act as an independent temperature sensor
  • Temperature information is broadcast at 10 minute intervals

Instructions for Use

  1. "RPTR" identifies the sensor as a repeater
  2. Remove the magnet from the face of the repeater
  3. Holding the repeater upside down will show the repeater state for 4 seconds
    • A flashing red LED indicates that no sensor is paired
    • A flashing green LED indicates the sensor is paired
  4. If held upside down longer than 4 seconds, the pairing process will begin
  5. The repeater will pair to the first found sensor that is in forced communication mode
  6. Steps for pairing a sensor to the repeater:
    • Start with the repeater and the sensor sitting on a flat surface, tab-side-up, for 60 seconds
    • Hold the sensor to be paired upside down until both LEDs begin to flash
      • Turn sensor right-side-up once LEDs begin to flash, then set on a flat surface
      • Sensor will remain in forced communication mode for 2 minutes
    • While sensor is in forced communication mode, hold the repeater upside down
      • The pairing process can take up to 60 seconds
      • At the end of the pairing process, the repeater will show its paired state
        • A flashing red LED indicates that no sensor is paired
        • A flashing green LED indicates a sensor is paired
  7. Steps for clearing a paired sensor:
    • Start with the repeater sitting on a flat surface, tab-side-up, for 60 seconds

    • Hold repeater upside down to start the pairing process
    • Continue holding the repeater upside down (tab down)
      • After approximately 30 seconds the repeater will clear the paired sensor information
      • A flashing red LED indicates that no sensor is paired

Best Practice Steps for Installation

  1. The best practice for walk-in units is to mount the sensor and/or repeater over the door seal (see examples)
    • Mounting the sensor and repeater in this orientation allows for the best broadcast transmission possible
  2. A typical use case scenario would be stacked walk-in units
    • This means you need to pass through the walk-in cooler to get to the walk-in freezer
  3. In the scenario of stacked walk-in units, the sensor and the repeater would be installed as follows:
    • Sensor and repeater need to be installed tab-side-up
    • Paired sensor mounted over the door seal in the walk-in freezer
    • Repeater sensor mounted over the door seal in the walk-in cooler
      • The repeater in the cooler receives the temperature broadcast from the freezer sensor
      • The repeater then re-broadcasts the freezer sensor information as well as supplies the temperature information for the cooler
