What is RCS Messaging?
RCS messaging (Rich Communication Service) is a standardized system for instant messaging on mobile phones that supports enhanced capabilities such as high-resolution images and improved video support.
RCS aims to enhance communication for personal and business interactions. If your carrier does NOT support RCS, the network seamlessly reverts to traditional SMS messaging, ensuring continuity.
RCS Features
Below are some key features you will see when RCS is enabled:
- Branded Messages - Receive mobile communications with the SmartSense logo and customized theme
- Better Security - A verified sender profile ensures you know who you are interacting with
- Enhanced Communication - A modern look with a dynamic, app-like experience
- Integrated Experience - RCS seamlessly merges with your native messaging app for smoother communication

You may need to enable RCS and/or Business Messages under your device settings. If RCS /Business Messages are not visible, they may be disabled by your carrier.
Fallback Scenarios
If a device does not meet requirements, there are a few scenarios you might run into:
- Revert to SMS - If your device is incompatible with RCS, you will receive a message as SMS.
- Carrier does not support RCS - If your device is compatible with RCS but your carrier does not support RCS, messages will default to SMS.
- Business messaging alternative - If RCS is unavailable, your business can revert to Business SMS to maintain communication and can still connect with customers reliably.
