What is an Asset Alarm Schedule?
An Asset Alarm Schedule allows users with Super Admin, Admin, or Owner permissions to create a scheduled time frame to suppress alarms. This prevents asset alarms from triggering when not in use, thus optimizing alarm behavior. Once this feature is enabled, users with Responder, Responder+, and Viewer roles can view the alarm schedule.

Enable an Asset Alarm Schedule
- Log in to the SmartSense web app and click on the ASSETS tab.
- Click on the ASSET NAME. This will take you to the ASSET DETAILS page.
- You will see the SETTINGS button (gear icon) in the upper-right corner. Click on this button to open a dropdown and select ASSET ALARM SCHEDULE. This will open in a new webpage.
- By default, an Asset Alarm Schedule displays all time blocks as ALARM ON in GREEN, which means all alarms will trigger all hours of each day.
There are two methods to enable an Asset Alarm Schedule:
Single Time Block Selection
a. Click on a single green time block to change the status to ALARM OFF then select APPLY CHANGES.
Bulk Time Block Selection
a. Select TURN OFF then click and drag your cursor across the desired time blocks to change the status to ALARM OFF. The time blocks will be highlighted in blue when making this change. This method can be used multiple times within the scheduler to activate more than one bulk selection.
b. Select APPLY CHANGES.
- After activating the Asset Alarm Schedule, a message will appear on your screen saying, “Success! Operation Successful.” A note will also be added to the ASSET HISTORY indicating that a change was made and displays the date, time, and user that updated the Asset Alarm Schedule.
- To go back to the Asset page, click on the hyperlink in the upper-left corner that says BACK TO [ASSET NAME].
- If there are any unsaved changes, a modal window will appear. To proceed, you will need to:
- Cancel – finish making selections and apply changes before returning to the Asset page
- Discard Changes – go back to the Asset page without applying changes
View an Asset Alarm Schedule
Once an Asset Alarm Schedule is enabled, any user can click on the interactive banner on the Asset page to view the details. Only Super Admins, Admins, and Owners can make changes to the Asset Alarm Schedule.
Users can easily identify when the Asset Alarm Schedule is enabled because a banner will appear in the top-right corner of the ASSET page saying, “Asset Alarm Schedule Enabled.”
When the Asset Alarm Schedule is enabled, alarms will be turned on or off depending on how the time blocks have been managed.
- "Alarms Currently Turned On" appears when the alarms are currently enabled for the time that the user is viewing the page.
In the example below, alarms are always on except from 12 pm to 1 pm on Monday. Let's say it is 1:30 pm. This means that the "Alarms Currently Turned On" message will appear at all times, for all days, except on Monday from 12 pm - 1 pm.
- “Alarms Currently Turned Off” will appear underneath the bell icon if all alarms are turned off during the current hour.
In the example below, you can see that between 4 pm and 5 pm on Thursday alarms are turned off. Let's say it is 4:30 pm on Thursday. The “Alarms Currently Turned Off” notification will appear because it falls within the timeframe when alarms are off.
- Navigate to the ASSET DETAILS page and click on the Asset Alarm Schedule banner. You will see a note below the graph: “This screen is view only. Edits and changes are not allowed on this page.”
Once you have finished viewing the schedule, click the BACK TO [ASSET NAME] hyperlink in the upper-left corner.

Asset History
Any changes made to an Asset Alarm Schedule (enabled, disabled, or modified), will be notated in the Asset History.
The information includes:
- Action
- Alarm Schedule Enabled – initial setup or after the schedule has been disabled and time block(s) is set to ALARM OFF
- Alarm Schedule Updated – any modifications made to the schedule
- Alarm Schedule Disabled – all time blocks are set to ALARM ON
- Date & Time
- User
Note: Details regarding which time blocks were changed will not be included in the Asset History.
Maintenance Mode
An Asset Alarm Schedule and Maintenance Mode can be enabled simultaneously; however, Maintenance Mode takes precedence over the schedule and will suppress alarms/notifications within the Maintenance Mode START/END dates.
When Maintenance Mode is disabled, the Asset Alarm Schedule will resume.
Send Notifications
The Asset Alarm Schedule will only affect SEND NOTIFICATIONS (Always, Select Days, Inside/Outside Hours of Operation) when enabled and time blocks are set to ALARM OFF. During these periods, all alarms and notifications will be suppressed regardless of notification period and recipients will not receive alerts.
When the Asset Alarm Scheduled is disabled (normal alert behavior) or enabled, alarms and notifications will trigger based on the existing notification periods.
