How to Assign Sensors
You can assign sensors to any location or department within your account hierarchy. This tutorial will walk you through a few methods.
Assign Sensors Under System Management
- Hover over the ADMIN tab then select SYSTEM MANAGEMENT.
- On the System Management page, you can view all your assigned/unassigned sensors and gateways. Click on the UNASSIGNED SENSORS tab.
- Here you will see a list of existing sensors that appear in your account but have not been assigned to a location or department. Information such as the Device ID, Device Type, etc. will be available to view. Locate the sensor you would like to assign and hover over that row. Click on the ASSIGN button on the far right.
- A modal window will appear. In the LOCATION/DEPARTMENT field, select an option from the dropdown. In the ASSET field, choose one of the available assets from the dropdown. In the SENSOR NAME field, enter a unique name for the sensor. The READING TYPE field will display TEMPERATURE and/or HUMIDITY. Finally, select a port number in the PORT field.
- Select SAVE to complete the sensor assignment.
Assign Sensors Under Organization Management
- Hover over the ADMIN tab then select SYSTEM MANAGEMENT.
- On the Organization Management page, select the HIERARCHY tab. Expand the organization to view available locations and departments.
- Identify the location/department where you would like to assign the sensor, hover over that row, then select the ELLIPSIS (three dots) to the far right and select + NEW ASSET.
- At the bottom of the Create New Asset screen, you will see the SENSORS section. Select + ADD NEW SENSOR.
- A modal window will appear. Fill out all the required fields then select SAVE to complete the sensor assignment.
